The St Benedict Edmonton ordinariate community is situated in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Our community consists of Roman Catholics and was started by a group of former Anglicans in Edmonton who sought unity with the Catholic Church under the terms of Pope Benedict XVI’s Apostolic Constitution, Anglicanorum Coetibus (pronounced, Anglican-orum chay-tee-boos).
Our Sunday Mass is celebrated at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 11030 St. Albert Trail NW, in Edmonton, on Sundays at 10:30 AM. Reconciliation is available, beginning at 10:00 AM.
Ad Orientem and Divine Worship
We celebrate the traditional Mass ‘Ad Orientem‘ in the liturgy according to the Divine Worship: The Missal, which unites the Ordinariates throughout the English-speaking world. Roman Catholics are permitted to participate at Ordinariate Masses and receive Holy Communion .
The Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter
Based in Houston, Texas, the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter was founded to serve Roman Catholics across the U.S. and Canada, and is led by Bishop Stephen Lopes. Bishop Lopes was appointed, by Pope Francis on November 24, 2015, as our first bishop and serves under the direct authority of the Pope.
The St Benedict (Edmonton) community belongs to The Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter and, within it, we are part of the Canadian Deanery of St John the Baptist.
